It’s NFL Wildcard Weekend with six games on tap beginning Saturday afternoon when the Las Vegas Raiders visit the Cincinnati Bengals. Oddsmakers have the Bengals as 5.5-point favourites, but the Raiders head into the playoffs riding a huge wave of momentum with four wins in a row. Las Vegas has also covered in four of its last five. Saturday evening’s AFC East showdown between the New England Patriots and the hometown Buffalo Bills might end up being the best game of the weekend. Buffalo is a 4-point favourite after opening at -4.5 and has won three of its last four against the Pats. That said, New England is 6-2 on the road this year and has covered in 15 of its last 18 games in Buffalo.
On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are this weekend’s most popular bet as of now, garnering 62 per cent of the betting action as 9.5-point favourites at home to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowboys, who went 13-4 against the spread (ATS) in the regular season, are field goal favourites at home to the San Francisco 49ers. To close out Sunday’s action, the Kansas City Chiefs are the biggest favourite on the board at -13 against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. Close to 60 per cent of early bets are on the Chiefs to cover the big spread.
Monday Night Football puts a bow on Wildcard Weekend with the Arizona Cardinals visiting the Los Angeles Rams. Oddsmakers have the Rams as 4-point favourites, but the Cardinals are easily the most popular underdog bet on the board. The Cards were 8-1 straight up and ATS as visitors this season.
It’s hard to keep on top of the NHL schedule as COVID-19 causes daily game postponements, but one team to keep an eye on is the Nashville Predators. The Preds lead the league’s money standings and are the only team in the NHL to have earned more than 10 units for their betting supporters already. The Predators are at home to Buffalo on Thursday before visiting Boston for a matinee matchup with the Bruins on Saturday.
A quick look at the NBA Championship futures will show you that the Brooklyn Nets remain favourites (+253) since those odds went live before the season started. However, even though the Nets have been cruising along at 25-14, they’re the league’s worst team ATS at 15-24. So, they aren’t living up to expectations when facing loft spreads every night. Instead, take a look at the Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder. Memphis is 29-14 and 28-15 ATS, Chicago is 27-11 and 23-15 ATS and the Thunder may only be 13-27 outright, but they’re cashing in at 26-14 ATS.
